The New Medicine

The New Medicine goes inside medical schools, healthcare clinics, research institutions and private practices to show physicians at work on the cutting edge of this new approach. By paying attention to a person's cultural values and lifestyle, stresses and supports, these doctors acknowledge the important role that the patient can and should play in their own healing and healthcare.

MasComm Associates managed The New Medicine outreach initiative which used the PBS documentary and extensive complementary Web materials as a centerpiece for locally-initiated grant-funded educational activities spearheaded by Bravewell Clinical Centers and eight members of the Consortia of Academic Health Centers for Integrative Medicine. The focus of the activities was to extend awareness of integrative medicine practices including the services each of these centers offers.

Local activities reached a cross section of practitioners and public audiences, bringing general as well as technical information on integrative medicine to receptive and responsive audiences from coast to coast. Grand rounds and other in-service trainings as well as a teleconference for Planetree hospitals around the country brought experts in integrative medicine to a variety of allopathic and integrative practitioners. Seminars, screenings, workshops, panel discussions, lectures and a fair introduced integrative medicine practices to the public in diverse venues. Roselle Kovitz served as Outreach Project Manager.
